About TFP Work
I’m passionate about collaborating with fellow creatives through TFP (Time for Prints) arrangements. These collaborative sessions allow both photographer and model to build their portfolios while exploring artistic concepts. Each TFP collaboration is carefully considered and selected based on artistic merit and mutual benefit.
My Artistic Vision
My portrait work draws inspiration from classical photography traditions with a focus on timeless elegance over fleeting trends, celebrating the natural qualities of each subject such as softness, grace, strength and character. I’m particularly drawn to:
- Vintage glamour aesthetics reminiscent of Hollywood’s golden age
- Classic fashion photography styles from the mid-20th century
- Thoughtful composition that tells a visual story
- Sophisticated styling that complements rather than overwhelms
- Focus on craftsmanship and technical excellence
Light & Shadow Mastery
What truly excites me in portrait work is creative use of lighting:
- Dramatic shadow play that adds depth and mystery
- Chiaroscuro techniques borrowed from classical painting
- Sculptural lighting that defines and enhances facial features
- Mood creation through strategic light placement
Ideal TFP Collaborators
I work best with models and creatives who share a passion for:
- Classical beauty standards and timeless aesthetics
- Professional conduct and serious artistic development
- Collaborative creativity and open communication
- Portfolio development with long-term artistic goals
- Fine art photography appreciation
What I’m NOT Looking For
To ensure we’re aligned creatively, here’s what doesn’t fit my artistic vision:
- Sexualized content including provocative “sexy glamor” trends
- Shock-value imagery including boundary-pushing concepts
- Commercial fashion that lacks artistic depth
The TFP Process
Before the Session
Let’s chat about concepts and mutual goals. I often like using Pinterest (or other means) of exploring ideas. By default I will assume studio portraiture located at my Studio, with the model providing outfits and doing their own makeup and hair. That said, with the right preparation and for the right results, I am open to renting outfits, hiring a HMUA, and working outdoors. We need to actively plan to make that happen.
The Session
The studio on Bainbridge Island provides a professional environment for many sessions. It provides a private curtained makeup/changing area and comfortable atmosphere. It is important for you to be comfortable and have fun during the shoot. You have a preference in music? Let me know. You want to bring a friend? No problem. Allow 1-2 hours for the session. If you would like to be done (or need to be done) by a certain time, let’s make sure to discuss ahead of time. I personally spend an additional hour prior to the session setting up lighting, so I do appreciate a minimum of 1 hour commitment.
Post-Production & Delivery
My focus is on quality over quantity. My style is about providing professionally edited images. I find myself typically spending 1-2 hours an image. With that in mind, I promise 5 high quality images out of the session within a month (minimum 10 hours of editing), but often deliver some images earlier and try to deliver more than I promise. If you need more images, let’s discuss before the session.
Edited images are by default around 3 megapixel, with a light logo on bottom-right corner. If you need something different – higher resolution, without a logo, with particular dimensions, please discuss your needs ahead of time.
Getting Started
If my artistic vision aligns with your creative goals, I’d love to hear about your ideas. Please reach out with:
- Brief introduction about yourself and your creative goals
- Inspiration images that represent your vision
- Portfolio samples of your previous work (if applicable)
- Specific concepts you’d like to explore together
Note: TFP collaborations are limited and selected based on artistic merit, scheduling availability, and mutual creative benefit. Professional paid sessions are also available for those who prefer that arrangement.
